SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Johnny L. Knapp of Collinsville, who passed away on January 6, 2017 at the age of 71; and

WHEREAS, Johnny Knapp was born in Collinsville to Frank and Hazel (Alexander) Knapp on June 24, 1945; he was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. and married Nancy Mumper in Collinsville on October 11, 1968; and

WHEREAS, Johnny Knapp served as a police officer with the Collinsville Police Department from 1972 until he retired in 1992; in 1976, he co-founded the Collinsville Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 103 and was a charter member; he was a member of the American Legion Post 365 and a member of Collinsville Eagle Lodge; and

WHEREAS, Johnny Knapp was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Frank Knapp; and

WHEREAS, Johnny Knapp is survived by his wife, Nancy; his children, Rachelle Knapp, Johnny Knapp II, Tamathia McDale, and Tonya Willis; his grandchildren, William, Matthew, Sarah, Randi Kay, Ashley, David, and Dominick; and his great-grandson, Garrett; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Johnny L. Knapp, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Johnny Knapp as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
