SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
425 ILCS 20/2 new

    Amends the Fire Hydrant Act. Provides that whoever fails to comply with any of the provisions of the Act, after receiving written notice of noncompliance or violation from a fire protection district or municipality in whose jurisdiction a fire hydrant is located, shall be responsible for all reasonable costs that the fire protection district or municipality incurs to correct the noncompliance, including attorney's fees and legal expenses incurred by the fire protection district or municipality in recovering the costs from the responsible party. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning safety.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Fire Hydrant Act is amended by adding
5Section 2 as follows:
 
6    (425 ILCS 20/2 new)
7    Sec. 2. Recovery of costs. Whoever fails to comply with any
8of the provisions of this Act, after receiving written notice
9of noncompliance or violation from a fire protection district
10or municipality in whose jurisdiction a fire hydrant is
11located, shall be responsible for all reasonable costs that the
12fire protection district or municipality incurs to correct the
13noncompliance, including attorney's fees and legal expenses
14incurred by the fire protection district or municipality in
15recovering the costs from the responsible party.
 
16    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
17becoming law.
