AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 5892

AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 5892, AS AMENDED, with reference to page and line numbers of House Amendment No. 1, as follows:

on page 2, after line 17, by adding the following:

""Standing protocol" may be issued by (i) a physician licensed to practice medicine in all its branches, (ii) a physician assistant who has been delegated the authority to prescribe asthma medications or epinephrine auto-injectors by his or her supervising physician, or (iii) an advanced practice nurse who has a collaborative agreement with a collaborating physician that delegates authority to issue a standing protocol for asthma medications or epinephrine auto-injectors."; and

on page 4, line 6, by replacing "an" with "a student-specific or undesignated an"; and

on page 5, line 10, after "physician", by inserting ", physician assistant, or advanced practice nurse"; and

on page 5, line 14, by replacing "self-administration" with "administration self-administration"; and

on page 5, line 15, by deleting "the self-administration"; and

on page 5, line 23, by replacing "self-administration" with "administration self-administration"; and

on page 5, line 24, by deleting "the self-administration"; and

on page 6, line 6, by replacing "self-administration" with "administration self-administration"; and

on page 6, line 7, by deleting "the self-administration"; and

on page 8, line 13, after "authority", by inserting "for asthma medication or epinephrine auto-injectors"; and

on page 8, line 14, by deleting "registered"; and

on page 8, line 15, after "authority", by inserting "for asthma medication or epinephrine auto-injectors"; and

on page 9, line 19, by replacing "order" with "protocol"; and

on page 10, line 3, after the period, by inserting "The school district, public school, or nonpublic school must maintain records related to the training curriculum and trained personnel."; and

on page 10, line 9, after "areas", by inserting "within the school and its related facilities"; and

on page 12, by replacing lines 3 through 6 with the following:

"(l) A school district, public school, or nonpublic school is encouraged not to use the administration of emergency medications to reduce the number of school nurses in a school or school district.".
