AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 1937

AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 1937 by replacing everything after the enacting clause with the following:

"Section 5. The Food Handling Regulation Enforcement Act is amended by adding Section 4 as follows:

(410 ILCS 625/4 new)

Sec. 4. Disclosure; food employee. An individual with a contagious disease that can be transmitted by a food handler through food, who works in a business establishment dealing in the sale or manufacture of food items must disclose the disease to his or her employer. The employer may not terminate the employee due to receiving this information, but must take reasonable precaution to protect the public and comply with rules promulgated by the Department to reduce the risk of foodborne disease transmission in order to protect the public.".
