SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

410 ILCS 625/4 new

Amends the Food Handling Regulation Enforcement Act. Provides that an individual with a contagious disease who works in a business establishment dealing in the sale of food items must disclose the disease to his or her employer. Provides that the employer may not terminate the employee due to receiving the information, but must take reasonable precaution to protect the public.

AN ACT concerning public health.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Food Handling Regulation Enforcement Act is amended by adding Section 4 as follows:

(410 ILCS 625/4 new)

Sec. 4. Disclosure. An individual with a contagious disease who works in a business establishment dealing in the sale of food items must disclose the disease to his or her employer. The employer may not terminate the employee due to receiving this information, but must take reasonable precaution to protect the public.
