 1        AN ACT concerning liens.

 2        Be  it  enacted  by  the People of the State of Illinois,
 3    represented in the General Assembly:

 4        Section 5.  The Mechanics Lien Act is amended  by  adding
 5    Section 1.2 as follows:

 6        (770 ILCS 60/1.2 new)
 7        Sec.  1.2.  Rental  material  or  equipment.  Any person,
 8    whether contractor or subcontractor,  who,  under  this  Act,
 9    would be entitled to a lien for the furnishing of material or
10    equipment  consumed  in  the  process of an improvement to or
11    construction upon real estate shall be entitled to a lien for
12    the rental of material or equipment for use in the process of
13    an improvement to or construction upon real  estate,  to  the
14    same  extent  and  in the same manner as provided in this Act
15    for other liens, provided that the material or  equipment  is
16    actually   employed  at  the  site  of  the  construction  or
17    improvement.

18        Section 99.  Effective date.  This Act takes effect  upon
19    becoming law.
