1 AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 648
2 AMENDMENT NO. . Amend Senate Bill 648, AS AMENDED,
3 with reference to page and line numbers of Senate Amendment
4 No. 1, as follows:
5 on page 2, line 7, after "45", by inserting "except as
6 otherwise provided in this subsection (b)"; and
7 on page 2, line 15, after the period, by inserting the
8 following:
9 "However, when the maximum number of charter schools for a
10 region has been reached, the number of charter schools
11 authorized to operate at any one time in that region shall be
12 increased by 15, with further increases by 15 when the new
13 maximum numbers have been reached but with no more than 15
14 new charter schools being authorized per region, per year.";
15 and
16 on page 8, line 7, by deleting "simultaneously"; and
17 on page 8, lines 8 and 9, by deleting "and the local school
18 board"; and
19 on page 8, by replacing lines 14 through 19 with "comply with
20 the provisions of this Article."; and
21 on page 13, line 2, after "decision", by inserting "or if a

2 on page 18, line 4, by replacing "must" with "may".
