 1                    AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 2098

 2        AMENDMENT NO.     .  Amend House Bill 2098 as follows:

 3    on page 1, by replacing line 7 with the following:
 4        "Sec. 5.545. The Seat Belt Compliance Program Fund."; and

 5    on page  2,  by  replacing  lines  27  through  29  with  the
 6    following:
 7    "and  subject to a fine not to exceed $25. In addition to the
 8    fine and any other financial assessments or penalties,  a  $5
 9    surcharge  shall  be imposed for a violation of this Section.
10    The $5 surcharge shall be collected by the circuit clerk  and
11    disbursed"; and

12    on page 3, by replacing line 9 with the following:
13    "less  than  $55, except the $5 surcharge on the fine imposed
14    for a violation"; and

15    on page 8, by replacing line 12 with the following:
16    "of a local ordinance, the $5 surcharge on that fine shall be
17    collected and"; and

18    on page 8, by replacing lines 18 and 19 with the following:
19        "Sec. 5-9-1.12. The Seat Belt Compliance Program Fund.
20        (a)  The $5 surcharge added to each fine  imposed  for  a
21    violation of"; and

 1    on  page 8, line 23, by replacing "Operation Cool" with "Seat
 2    Belt Compliance"; and

 3    on page 8, line 30, by replacing "Operation Cool" with  "Seat
 4    Belt Compliance"; and

 5    on page 8, by replacing line 33 with the following:
 6    "by  the  Department  of  State  Police  for  the  Seat  Belt
 7    Compliance  Program  or by the Department of State Police for
 8    grants to other State, county, or municipal  law  enforcement
 9    agencies  for  seat  belt  compliance programs established to
10    increase seat safety belt compliance by high school students,
11    including but not limited to the  Operation  Cool  Program.";
12    and

13    on page 9, by deleting lines 1 and 2.
