 1                    AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 476
 2        AMENDMENT NO.     .  Amend Senate Bill  476  on  page  1,
 3    lines  2  and 6 by changing "2 and 3" each time it appears to
 4    "3 and 7"; and
 5    on page 1, by deleting lines 7 through 29; and
 6    on page 2, by inserting after line 33 the following:
 7        "(820 ILCS 205/7) (from Ch. 48, par. 31.7)
 8        Sec. 7.   No  minor  under  16  years  of  age  shall  be
 9    employed, permitted or allowed to work:
10        1.  In,  about or in connection with any public messenger
11    or delivery service, bowling alley, pool room, billiard room,
12    skating rink, exhibition park or place of amusement,  garage,
13    or as a bell-boy in any hotel or rooming house or about or in
14    connection   with   power-driven   machinery;   except   this
15    subsection  shall  not  apply  to ice skating rinks owned and
16    operated by a school or unit of local government;
17        2.  In the oiling, cleaning or  wiping  of  machinery  or
18    shafting;
19        3.  In  or about any mine or quarry; provided that office
20    and messenger and other non-hazardous employment shall not be
21    prohibited by this Act;
22        4.  In stone cutting or polishing;

 1        5.  In or about any hazardous factory work;
 2        6.  In or about any  plant  manufacturing  explosives  or
 3    articles  containing  explosive  components, or in the use or
 4    transportation of same; provided that  office  and  messenger
 5    and other non-hazardous employment shall not be prohibited by
 6    this Act;
 7        7.  In  or  about plants manufacturing iron or steel, ore
 8    reduction works,  smelters,  foundries,  forging  shops,  hot
 9    rolling  mills  or  any  other  place  in  which the heating,
10    melting, or heat treatment of metals is carried on;  provided
11    that  office and messenger and other non-hazardous employment
12    shall not be prohibited by this Act;
13        8.  In the  operation  of  machinery  used  in  the  cold
14    rolling  of  heavy  metal  stock,  or  in  the  operation  of
15    power-driven  punching,  shearing,  stamping,  or metal plate
16    bending machines;
17        9.  In  or  about   sawmills   or   lath,   shingle,   or
18    cooperage-stock mills; provided that office and messenger and
19    other  non-hazardous  employment  shall  not be prohibited by
20    this Act;
21        10.  In  the  operation   of   power-driven   woodworking
22    machines, or off-bearing from circular saws;
23        11.  In  the  operation  of freight elevators or hoisting
24    machines and cranes;
25        12.  In  spray  painting  or  in  occupations   involving
26    exposure  to  lead  or  its  compounds  or  to  dangerous  or
27    poisonous dyes or chemicals;
28        13.  In  any place or establishment in which intoxicating
29    alcoholic liquors are served or sold for consumption  on  the
30    premises,  or  in  which  such  liquors  are  manufactured or
31    bottled, except as follows: ; provided that
32             (A)  bus-boy and kitchen employment,  not  otherwise
33        prohibited,  when in connection with the service of meals
34        at any private club, fraternal organization or  veteran's

 1        organization shall not be prohibited by this subsection;
 2             (B)  this subsection 13 does not apply to employment
 3        that is performed on property owned or operated by a park
 4        district,  as defined in subsection (a) of Section 1-3 of
 5        the  Park  District  Code,  if  the  employment  is   not
 6        otherwise prohibited by law;
 7        14.  In  oil  refineries,  gasoline  blending  plants, or
 8    pumping stations on oil transmission lines;
 9        15.  In the operation of laundry, dry cleaning, or dyeing
10    machinery;
11        16.  In occupations  involving  exposure  to  radioactive
12    substances;
13        17.  In or about any filling station or service station;
14        18.  In   construction  work,  including  demolition  and
15    repair;
16        19.  In roofing operations;
17        20.  In excavating operations;
18        21.  In logging operations;
19        22.  In  public  and  private   utilities   and   related
20    services;
21        23.  In operations in or in connection with slaughtering,
22    meat  packing,  poultry  processing,  and  fish  and  seafood
23    processing;
24        24.  In  operations  which involve working on an elevated
25    surface, with or without use of equipment, including but  not
26    limited to ladders and scaffolds;
27        25.  In   security  positions  or  any  occupations  that
28    require the use or carrying of a firearm or other weapon; or
29        26.  In occupations which involve the handling or storage
30    of blood, blood products, body fluids, or body tissues.
