1 AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 347
2 AMENDMENT NO. . Amend House Bill 347, AS AMENDED,
3 with reference to the page and line numbers of House
4 Amendment No. 1, on page 1, in line 8, by inserting after the
5 period the following:
6 "A person who is a TRS benefit recipient or TRS dependent
7 beneficiary on the termination date but has not elected to
8 participate in the TRS health plan may elect to participate
9 in the State health plan under this Section without any delay
10 in coverage or limitation as to pre-existing medical
11 conditions, but that election may be made during the
12 following periods only: (i) the 30 days following the date on
13 which he or she again becomes a TRS benefit recipient or
14 dependent beneficiary by virtue of beginning to receive a
15 different type of annuity or monthly benefit; (ii) the 6
16 months following the date on which he or she becomes eligible
17 for Medicare Hospital Insurance; (iii) the 30 days following
18 the date on which he or she attains age 65; and (iv) the 30
19 days following the date on which he or she exhausts all
20 rights to COBRA coverage after losing health insurance
21 coverage under another group health benefit plan as a result
22 of the employer terminating that coverage.".
