HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Jelani Day of Bloomington; and

WHEREAS, Jelani Day was originally from Danville; he was the son of Carmen Bolden-Day and the second youngest of five siblings, which included two brothers and two sisters; and

WHEREAS, Jelani Day was a track and field athlete at Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University in Huntsville, Alabama from 2014 to 2015; he graduated at the top of his class with a bachelor's degree in speech pathology in 2018; he was a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.; and

WHEREAS, Jelani Day started his first semester of graduate school in the Communication Sciences and Disorders Department at Illinois State University in Normal in 2018; he was pursuing his master's degree in speech pathology; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Jelani Day and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jelani Day as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
