| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Clyde W. Jones of Bethalto, who passed | 4 | | away on April 16, 2018; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Clyde Jones was born in Alton to Clyde J. and | 6 | | Chlorene (Kirk) Jones on August 2, 1938; he married Wilma | 7 | | "JoAnn" Elkins in Alton on June 14, 1957; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Clyde Jones retired as CEO of the 102nd Army | 9 | | Reserve Command in St. Louis after 30 years of civil service; | 10 | | he also served in the United States Army reserve for 36 years; | 11 | | after retirement, he served as a Missouri State Ambassador for | 12 | | the Army Reserves and a volunteer for the Employee Support of | 13 | | the Guard Reserve (ESGR) Program; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, At the time of his passing, Clyde Jones was on the | 15 | | board of the St. Louis Regional Airport and had orchestrated | 16 | | the Memorial Day Parade in Bethalto for the last 20 years; he | 17 | | had served on the Unit 8 School Board from 1964 until 1986, was | 18 | | a Village Trustee from 1982 until 1986, and a member of the | 19 | | Alton Vocational Advisory Board from 1970 until 1986; he also | 20 | | served on the Madison County School Board and the Police/Fire | 21 | | Commission Board; he was a member of the Bethalto Rotary Club, | 22 | | where he served as District Governor from 1991 until 1992; in |

| 1 | | 1985, he and his brothers purchased WBGZ; he was active in the | 2 | | Bethalto United Methodist Church and the Cemetery; he always | 3 | | strived to be the first voter in elections and arrived at six | 4 | | a.m.; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Clyde Jones was preceded in death by his parents; | 6 | | the mother who raised him, Ruth (Wood) Dresch; his son, Skip | 7 | | Jones; his great-grandson, Dominic Whitaker; and his brothers, | 8 | | George, Don, Louis, and Chuck Dreith; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Clyde Jones is survived by his wife, JoAnn; his | 10 | | children, Jill (Scott) Hamilton and Jeff (Melissa) Jones; his | 11 | | grandchildren, Jennifer Whitaker, Jason Arnold, Sarah (Randy) | 12 | | Naylor, Seth Jones, Sadie Jones, and Casse (Trevor) Shaw; his | 13 | | great-grandchildren, Jacob, Jalynn, Delilah, Jaeda, and Mason; | 14 | | and his sisters, Mary Lou (Gary) Lockard and Ruth Ann (Lowell) | 15 | | Reeves; therefore, be it
