SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Clyde W. Jones of Bethalto, who passed
4away on April 16, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Clyde Jones was born in Alton to Clyde J. and
6Chlorene (Kirk) Jones on August 2, 1938; he married Wilma
7"JoAnn" Elkins in Alton on June 14, 1957; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Clyde Jones retired as CEO of the 102nd Army
9Reserve Command in St. Louis after 30 years of civil service;
10he also served in the United States Army reserve for 36 years;
11after retirement, he served as a Missouri State Ambassador for
12the Army Reserves and a volunteer for the Employee Support of
13the Guard Reserve (ESGR) Program; and
 
14    WHEREAS, At the time of his passing, Clyde Jones was on the
15board of the St. Louis Regional Airport and had orchestrated
16the Memorial Day Parade in Bethalto for the last 20 years; he
17had served on the Unit 8 School Board from 1964 until 1986, was
18a Village Trustee from 1982 until 1986, and a member of the
19Alton Vocational Advisory Board from 1970 until 1986; he also
20served on the Madison County School Board and the Police/Fire
21Commission Board; he was a member of the Bethalto Rotary Club,
22where he served as District Governor from 1991 until 1992; in

11985, he and his brothers purchased WBGZ; he was active in the
2Bethalto United Methodist Church and the Cemetery; he always
3strived to be the first voter in elections and arrived at six
4a.m.; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Clyde Jones was preceded in death by his parents;
6the mother who raised him, Ruth (Wood) Dresch; his son, Skip
7Jones; his great-grandson, Dominic Whitaker; and his brothers,
8George, Don, Louis, and Chuck Dreith; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Clyde Jones is survived by his wife, JoAnn; his
10children, Jill (Scott) Hamilton and Jeff (Melissa) Jones; his
11grandchildren, Jennifer Whitaker, Jason Arnold, Sarah (Randy)
12Naylor, Seth Jones, Sadie Jones, and Casse (Trevor) Shaw; his
13great-grandchildren, Jacob, Jalynn, Delilah, Jaeda, and Mason;
14and his sisters, Mary Lou (Gary) Lockard and Ruth Ann (Lowell)
15Reeves; therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
17ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
18Clyde W. Jones and extend our sincere condolences to his
19family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
20further
 
21    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
22presented to the family of Clyde Jones as an expression of our
