| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Carl D. Bond of Silvis, who passed away | 4 | | on February 19, 2016; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Carl Bond was born in Martinsburg, Iowa to Herbert | 6 | | and Maxine Hollingsworth Bond on July 3, 1934; he served in the | 7 | | United States Air Force during the Korean War and was one of | 8 | | the first members of the American military in Turkey; he | 9 | | married Mary Dunlap in Moline on March 11, 1961; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Carl Bond retired from Rock Island Arsenal; after | 11 | | retirement, he worked as a bailiff at the Rock Island County | 12 | | Courthouse for 20 years; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Carl Bond was very active in his community; he was | 14 | | the founder of the Silvis Country Music Festival Run and the | 15 | | UTHS Hall of Fame; he was also very active in several other | 16 | | organizations; he enjoyed sports, politics, golfing, and | 17 | | flowers; he received the Silvis Garden Walk flower contest; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Carl Bond was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; | 19 | | his parents; his son, Gregory Evan Bond; and his sister, | 20 | | Virginia (Carl) Engh; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Carl Bond is survived by his children, Susan | 2 | | (James) Lawson, Tamara (Scott) Kucharz, and Timothy | 3 | | (Geraldine) Bond; his grandchildren, Justin and Jennifer | 4 | | Danay, Zachary and Jeremy Kucharz, Samantha (Cameron) Ellison, | 5 | | and Jamie Bond; his great-grandson, Cameren Plumb; and his | 6 | | siblings, Phillip (Pat) Bond and Stephen (Carol) Bond; | 7 | | therefore, be it
| 8 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | 9 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 10 | | Carl D. Bond, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, | 11 | | friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
