SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Carl D. Bond of Silvis, who passed away
4on February 19, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Carl Bond was born in Martinsburg, Iowa to Herbert
6and Maxine Hollingsworth Bond on July 3, 1934; he served in the
7United States Air Force during the Korean War and was one of
8the first members of the American military in Turkey; he
9married Mary Dunlap in Moline on March 11, 1961; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Carl Bond retired from Rock Island Arsenal; after
11retirement, he worked as a bailiff at the Rock Island County
12Courthouse for 20 years; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Carl Bond was very active in his community; he was
14the founder of the Silvis Country Music Festival Run and the
15UTHS Hall of Fame; he was also very active in several other
16organizations; he enjoyed sports, politics, golfing, and
17flowers; he received the Silvis Garden Walk flower contest; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Carl Bond was preceded in death by his wife, Mary;
19his parents; his son, Gregory Evan Bond; and his sister,
20Virginia (Carl) Engh; and

1    WHEREAS, Carl Bond is survived by his children, Susan
2(James) Lawson, Tamara (Scott) Kucharz, and Timothy
3(Geraldine) Bond; his grandchildren, Justin and Jennifer
4Danay, Zachary and Jeremy Kucharz, Samantha (Cameron) Ellison,
5and Jamie Bond; his great-grandson, Cameren Plumb; and his
6siblings, Phillip (Pat) Bond and Stephen (Carol) Bond;
7therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Carl D. Bond, and extend our sincere condolences to his family,
11friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Carl Bond as an expression of our
14deepest sympathy.
