| 2 | | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 1892 by replacing | 3 | | everything after the enacting clause with the following:
| 4 | | "Section 5. The Metropolitan Transit Authority Act is | 5 | | amended by changing Sections 51 and 52 as follows: | 6 | | (70 ILCS 3605/51) | 7 | | Sec. 51. Free services; eligibility. | 8 | | (a) Notwithstanding any law to the contrary, no later than | 9 | | 60 days following the effective date of this amendatory Act of | 10 | | the 95th General Assembly and until subsection (b) is | 11 | | implemented, any fixed route public transportation services | 12 | | provided by, or under grant or purchase of service contracts | 13 | | of, the Board shall be provided without charge to all senior | 14 | | citizens of the Metropolitan Region (as such term is defined | 15 | | in 70 ILCS 3615/1.03) aged 65 and older, under such conditions | 16 | | as shall be prescribed by the Board.

| 1 | | (b) Notwithstanding any law to the contrary, no later than | 2 | | 180 days following the effective date of this amendatory Act | 3 | | of the 96th General Assembly, any fixed route public | 4 | | transportation services provided by, or under grant or | 5 | | purchase of service contracts of, the Board shall be provided | 6 | | without charge to senior citizens aged 65 and older who meet | 7 | | the income eligibility limitation set forth in subsection | 8 | | (a-5) of Section 4 of the Senior Citizens and Persons with | 9 | | Disabilities Property Tax Relief Act, under such conditions as | 10 | | shall be prescribed by the Board. The Department on Aging | 11 | | shall furnish all information reasonably necessary to | 12 | | determine eligibility, including updated lists of individuals | 13 | | who are eligible for services without charge under this | 14 | | Section. After an initial eligibility determination is made, | 15 | | an individual's eligibility for free services shall | 16 | | automatically renew every 5 years after receipt by the | 17 | | Authority of a copy of the individual's government-issued | 18 | | identification card validating Illinois residency.
