| 4 | | "Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by | 5 | | changing Section 3-664 as follows: | 6 | | (625 ILCS 5/3-664)
| 7 | | Sec. 3-664. Gold Star license plates. Upon proper | 8 | | application, the Secretary of State shall
issue registration | 9 | | plates designated as Gold Star license plates to any Illinois | 10 | | resident who is the
surviving widow or widower, to each parent | 11 | | who is an Illinois resident, and to each Illinois resident who | 12 | | is a child, stepchild, child through adoption, brother, | 13 | | half-brother, sister, or half-sister , widower, sibling, | 14 | | daughter, son, or parent of a person who served in the Armed | 15 | | Forces of the United States and
lost his or her life while in | 16 | | service whether in peacetime or war. The

Registration plates issued under this

The Secretary may, in his or her | 8 | | discretion, allow the plates to be issued as vanity or | 9 | | personalized plates in accordance with Section 3-405.1 of this | 10 | | Code. No registration fee shall be required from a surviving | 11 | | widows, widowers, parents, or children of persons widow, | 12 | | widower, or parent of a person who served in the Armed Forces | 13 | | of the United States : and
