| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Monte Siegrist of Taylorville, who passed | 4 | | away on November 28, 2018; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Monte Siegrist was born in Taylorville to Walter | 6 | | and Pauline (Straughn) Siegrist on May 20, 1933; he graduated | 7 | | from Taylorville High School in 1951; he attended the | 8 | | University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, where he was a | 9 | | member of the Delta Chi fraternity; in 1953, he joined the | 10 | | United States Army and also married Lucy Kuntzman; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Monte Siegrist was an entrepreneur and ran a | 12 | | successful business; he was responsible for over half of the | 13 | | housing units built in Taylorville over the past 60 years; he | 14 | | was the founding President of the Springfield Area | 15 | | Homebuilders; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Monte Siegrist received a Lifetime Achievement | 17 | | Award from the Chamber of Commerce for his lifelong dedication | 18 | | to Taylorville; in 2005, he and Lucy donated a statue of | 19 | | President Abraham Lincoln to the City; he was a member of St. | 20 | | Mary's Catholic Church; at the age of 80, he returned to | 21 | | college at Lincoln Land; he was a family man, a friend, a | 22 | | lifelong Democrat, a philanthropist, an Eagle Scout, and an |

| 1 | | avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals; and
| 2 | | WHEREAS, Monte Siegrist was preceded in death by his son, | 3 | | John Lyndon; his siblings, Max, Malcolm, and Ellen Siegrist; | 4 | | and his parents; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Monte Siegrist is survived by his wife of 65 | 6 | | years, Lucy; his children, Mark, Jay, Scott, Kirk, and Julie; | 7 | | his 11 grandchildren; his 13 great-grandchildren; and his | 8 | | sister, Sue Siegrist Wilson; therefore, be it
| 9 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 10 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 11 | | Monte Siegrist and extend our sincere condolences to his | 12 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 13 | | further
