| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Michael W. "Mike" Beaty of Groveland, who | 4 | | passed away on May 16, 2018; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Mike Beaty was born to Keith and Adelaide | 6 | | "Peaches" (Fisk) Beaty on March 25, 1947; he was baptized and | 7 | | confirmed at St. Patrick's Catholic Church; he graduated from | 8 | | Lewistown Community High School and Western Illinois | 9 | | University; he married Katherine Workman in 1970; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Mike Beaty worked for nearly 20 years as a | 11 | | successful agent for Fidelity Union Life Insurance Company and | 12 | | then Country Companies; he later worked as executive director | 13 | | of the Macomb Area Industrial Development Corporation (MAIDCO) | 14 | | and was especially proud of his efforts to help secure the | 15 | | expansion of NTN Bower and attracting the St. Louis Rams summer | 16 | | training camp to Macomb; he also worked as Downstate District | 17 | | Field Liaison and Assistant to the Chief of Staff for the | 18 | | Illinois Secretary of State, Division Administrator for | 19 | | Natural Resources Division of the Illinois Department of | 20 | | Agriculture, and in the Department of Natural Resources before | 21 | | his retirement; and
| 22 | | WHEREAS, Mike Beaty was an active member of the Macomb |

| 1 | | Rotary, Macomb Ducks Unlimited, and the Macomb Country Club; | 2 | | and | 3 | | WHEREAS, Mike Beaty enjoyed reading, traveling, and | 4 | | nature; he was an avid hunter of waterfowl and pheasant and for | 5 | | many years was a licensed goose guide at the Marlin Hunting | 6 | | Club in Southern Illinois; he co-founded the Macomb Chapter of | 7 | | Ducks Unlimited; he appreciated all sports, but was especially | 8 | | passionate about baseball and played the position of catcher | 9 | | through college; later, he played in the Peoria Sunday Morning | 10 | | League; he was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed watching | 11 | | the Cubs win the 2016 World Series; he also enjoyed wintering | 12 | | in Florida, where he attended as many spring training games as | 13 | | possible; and | 14 | | WHEREAS, Mike Beaty took great pride in his children and | 15 | | grandchildren and was exceptionally proud of how they treated | 16 | | others; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Mike Beaty was preceded in death by his parents | 18 | | and his brother, Thomas Patrick "Pat" Beaty; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Mike Beaty is survived by his wife, Katherine; his | 20 | | daughter, Andrea (Brian) Miller; his son, Christopher (Raleigh | 21 | | Blasdell) Beaty; his grandchildren, Anika, Claire, and Connor | 22 | | Miller; his sisters-in-law, Jane Beaty and Mary Dufelmeier (Ken |
