HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to recognize the Illinois Sheriffs' Association for their 90 years of service to Illinois' sheriffs and the counties they represent; and

WHEREAS, The mission of the Illinois Sheriffs' Association is to protect the Office of Sheriff, provide executive level training to sheriffs and staff, provide research, resources, and technical assistance to sheriffs' offices, assist in establishing the "rule of law" for the Illinois Criminal Justice Community, and provide resources for community initiatives and education; and

WHEREAS, The primary role of the Illinois Sheriffs' Association is to gain community support and build better bonds between sheriffs, the Association, and the communities they serve; and

WHEREAS, The Illinois Sheriffs' Association emphasizes the sheriffs' dedication to public safety, protecting lives, and fighting crime; and

WHEREAS, The Illinois Sheriffs' Association expresses the importance of professionalism and effectiveness with Illinois law enforcement by strengthening the correlation between sheriffs and community-based initiatives, such as youth scholarships, Special Olympics, drug awareness, training, legislation, and more; and

WHEREAS, The Illinois Sheriffs' Association provides programs dedicated to supporting the State's 102 sheriffs in every way possible; and

WHEREAS, The Illinois Sheriffs' Association takes pride in all of its charitable goals and missions; for years it has been focused on the youth of the State, truly committed to the belief that an investment in children will pay huge dividends in the future; additionally, the protection and care of the oldest and most vulnerable citizens is not only a commitment of the Association, but also a duty and a responsibility; and

WHEREAS, The organization is built on principles, but it is judged on the values, dedication, and commitment of its members; this organization belongs to the sheriffs of Illinois, and every sheriff is an equal partner in its efforts; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize the Illinois Sheriffs' Association and the sheriffs they support, and we congratulate the Association on their 90 years of dedicated service; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Illinois Sheriffs' Association as an expression of our esteem and respect.
