SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Ronald E. Derrer of rural Milan, who passed away on May 25, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Ronald Derrer was born in Stephenson County to Russell and Leonore Weidman Derrer on September 3, 1937; he graduated from Carroll High School and served in the United States Army, primarily in Korea; he was united in marriage to Ellen Eberle on November 23, 1958; and

WHEREAS, Ronald Derrer and his wife first farmed with his parents, east of Mt. Carroll; he was the third generation of raising, milking, and showing Registered Holstein cattle; after selling the dairy herd, he became a beef and crop farmer; he retired from farming in 2002 and moved to Milan to be closer to his family; and

WHEREAS, Ronald Derrer enjoyed watching his granddaughter in her many activities; his greatest love was making memories with his children and his granddaughter; he and his wife traveled to almost all 50 states and eight other countries; and

WHEREAS, Ronald Derrer was a member of the Edgington Evangelical Presbyterian Church, where he served as a Deacon; he was also a member of the Rock Island Country Farm Bureau; he enjoyed being with his coffee friends at the Reynolds Feed Store, McDonald's, and the Friday night group; and

WHEREAS, Ronald Derrer was preceded in death by his parents and one brother; and

WHEREAS, Ronald Derrer is survived by his wife, Ellen; his daughter and son-in-law, Ronda (Dan) Brown; his son and daughter-in-law, Rod (Julie) Derrer; and his granddaughter, Rylee Marie Derrer; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Ronald E. Derrer, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Ronald Derrer as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
