AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 780

AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 780 on page 7, by replacing lines 12 through 19 with the following:

"(j-5) In counties with 3,000,000 or more inhabitants, in the event of a sale or transfer of homestead property, the new owner of the property, if qualified, shall apply for an exemption under this Section. Upon receipt of the application, the chief county assessment officer shall remove any previously granted homestead exemptions for which the property is no longer eligible.".
