SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
20 ILCS 5/5-535  was 20 ILCS 5/6.15

    Amends the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois. Provides that a Children and Family Services Advisory Council of 20 members shall be appointed by the Governor (rather than a Children and Family Services Advisory Council of 17 members, one of whom shall be a senior citizen age 60 or over, shall be appointed by the Governor). Provides that the Council shall advise the Department of Children and Family Services with respect to services and programs for children under its care (rather than for children and adults under its care). Provides that beginning July 1, 2015, at least one youth from each of the Department of Children and Family Services' regional youth advisory boards shall be appointed to serve as a member of the Children and Family Services Advisory Council. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning State government.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Civil Administrative Code of Illinois is
5amended by changing Section 5-535 as follows:
 
6    (20 ILCS 5/5-535)  (was 20 ILCS 5/6.15)
7    Sec. 5-535. In the Department of Children and Family
8Services. A Children and Family Services Advisory Council of 20
917 members, one of whom shall be a senior citizen age 60 or
10over, appointed by the Governor. The Council shall advise the
11Department with respect to services and programs for children
12and for adults under its care. In appointing the first Council,
138 members shall be named to serve 2 years, and 8 members named
14to serve 4 years. The member first appointed under Public Act
1583-1538 shall serve for a term of 4 years. All members
16appointed thereafter shall be appointed for terms of 4 years.
17Beginning July 1, 2015, at least one youth from each of the
18Department of Children and Family Services' regional youth
19advisory boards shall be appointed to serve as a member of the
20Children and Family Services Advisory Council. At its first
21meeting the Council shall select a chairman from among its
22members and appoint a committee to draft rules of procedure.
