SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
105 ILCS 5/10-20.56 new
105 ILCS 5/34-18.49 new

    Amends the School Code. Provides that a school board shall require its schools to either connect at-risk students with anger management classes offered in the community or conduct their own anger management classes for at-risk students. Provides that if the school board requires a school to conduct these classes, the classes do not have to be implemented until the beginning of the 2017-2018 school year. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning education.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Sections
510-20.56 and 34-18.49 as follows:
 
6    (105 ILCS 5/10-20.56 new)
7    Sec. 10-20.56. Anger management classes. A school board
8shall require its schools to either connect at-risk students
9with anger management classes offered in the community or
10conduct their own anger management classes for at-risk
11students. If the school board requires a school to conduct
12these classes, the classes do not have to be implemented until
13the beginning of the 2017-2018 school year.
 
14    (105 ILCS 5/34-18.49 new)
15    Sec. 34-18.49. Anger management classes. The board shall
16require its schools to either connect at-risk students with
17anger management classes offered in the community or conduct
18their own anger management classes for at-risk students. If the
19board requires a school to conduct these classes, the classes
20do not have to be implemented until the beginning of the
212017-2018 school year.
