SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

775 ILCS 5/7-114 new

Amends the Illinois Human Rights Act. Provides that the Department of Human Rights shall file a report each year with the General Assembly concerning charges under the Real Estate Transactions Article of the Act, including charges referred to the Department by the Department of Housing and Urban Development with subject matter pertaining to that Article, containing the number of charges pending on December 31 of the preceding calendar year and the number of charges concluded during the preceding calendar year, and a categorization of the pending and closed charges according to the length of time they have been pending or were pending before their conclusion.

AN ACT concerning human rights.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Illinois Human Rights Act is amended by adding Section 7-114 as follows:

Sec. 7-114. Report concerning Article 3 charges. No later than February 28 of each year beginning in 2013, the Department shall file a report with the General Assembly containing the following information regarding charges under Article 3, including charges referred to the Department by the Department of Housing and Urban Development with subject matter pertaining to Article 3:

(1) The number of charges pending on December 31 of the preceding calendar year. Of these charges, the report shall also state the number pending for less than one year, the number pending for at least one year but less than 2 years, the number pending for at least 2 years but less than 3 years, the number pending for at least 3 years but less than 4 years, the number pending for at least 4 years but less than 5 years, the number pending for at least 5 years but less than 6 years, the number pending for at least 6 years but less than 7 years, and the number pending for at least 7 years.

(2) The number of charges concluded during the preceding calendar year. Of these charges, the report shall also state the number pending for less than one year before their conclusion, the number pending for at least one year but less than 2 years before their conclusion, the number pending for at least 2 years but less than 3 years before their conclusion, the number pending for at least 3 years but less than 4 years before their conclusion, the number pending for at least 4 years but less than 5 years before their conclusion, the number pending for at least 5 years but less than 6 years before their conclusion, the number pending for at least 6 years but less than 7 years before their conclusion, and the number pending for at least 7 years before their conclusion.
