SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

625 ILCS 5/11-1432 new

Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides that any trailer sold in Illinois that is pulled by a motor vehicle which is not a truck tractor must have its identification number stamped into the steel frame on an area visible within 24 inches of the coupling and must have a metal identification tag affixed to the unit. Effective January 1, 2013.

AN ACT concerning transportation.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by adding Section 11-1432 as follows:

Sec. 11-1432. Vehicle identification numbers on trailers. Any trailer sold in Illinois that is pulled by a motor vehicle which is not a truck tractor must have its identification number stamped into the steel frame on an area visible within 24 inches of the coupling and must have a metal identification tag affixed to the unit.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect January 1, 2013.
