AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 2054

2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 2054 on page 2, by
3replacing lines 8 through 10 with the following:
4    "(b) Sentence.
5        (1) Copper theft not exceeding $500 in value is a Class
6    4 felony.
7        (2) Copper theft not exceeding $500 in value if the
8    theft was committed in a school or place of worship or if
9    the theft was of governmental property is a Class 3 felony.
10        (3) Copper theft exceeding $500 and not exceeding
11    $10,000 in value, is a Class 2 felony.
12        (4) Copper theft exceeding $500 and not exceeding
13    $10,000 in value if the theft was committed in a school or
14    place of worship or if the theft was of governmental
15    property is a Class 1 felony.
16        (5) Copper theft exceeding $10,000 and not exceeding
17    $100,000 in value is a Class 1 felony.
18        (6) Copper theft exceeding $10,000 and not exceeding

1    $100,000 in value is a Class X felony if the theft was
2    committed in a school or place of worship or if the theft
3    was of governmental property.
4        (7) Copper theft exceeding $100,000 in value is a Class
5    X felony.".
