AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 362

AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 362 by replacing everything after the enacting clause with the following:

"Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the Representatives' Terms of Office Referendum Act.

Section 5. Advisory question. The following advisory question shall be submitted to the voters of the entire State at the next general election following the effective date of this Act:

During each 10-year period following redistricting, should members of the Illinois House of Representatives be elected for terms of 4 years, then 2 years, and then 4 years?

The question shall be placed on a single separate ballot. The votes shall be recorded as "Yes" or "No".

Section 10. Certification. The State Board of Elections shall immediately certify the question to be submitted to the voters of the entire State under Section 5 to the respective county clerks and to the board of election commissioners, if any, in their respective counties.

Section 15. Conflicts. If any provision of this Act conflicts with any other law, this Act controls.

Section 90. Repeal. This Act is repealed on January 1, 2013.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon becoming law.".
