SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
105 ILCS 5/27-3.5 new

    Amends the School Code. Provides that each school district shall require that all students in grade 7 and all high school students enrolled in a course concerning history of the United States or a combination of history of the United States and American government view the Congressional Medal of Honor film made by the Congressional Medal of Honor Society. Provides that this requirement does not apply if the Congressional Medal of Honor Society charges the school district a fee for the film. Effective July 1, 2009.

1     AN ACT concerning education.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section
5 27-3.5 as follows:
 
6     (105 ILCS 5/27-3.5 new)
7     Sec. 27-3.5. Congressional Medal of Honor film. Each school
8 district shall require that all students in grade 7 and all
9 high school students enrolled in a course concerning history of
10 the United States or a combination of history of the United
11 States and American government view the Congressional Medal of
12 Honor film made by the Congressional Medal of Honor Society.
13 This requirement does not apply if the Congressional Medal of
14 Honor Society charges the school district a fee for the film.
 
15     Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect July 1,
16 2009.
