1 AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 1013
2     AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 1013, AS AMENDED,
3 by inserting the following in its proper numeric sequence in
4 Article 1:

5     "Section 1-25. The Criminal Code of 1961 is amended by
6 adding Section 12-6.5 as follows:

7     (720 ILCS 5/12-6.5 new)
8     Sec. 12-6.5. Extortion.
9     (a) A person commits extortion when he or she knowingly
10 obtains property from another, with his or her consent, induced
11 by wrongful use of actual or threatened force, violence, or
12 fear, or under color of official right.
13     (b) Sentence.
14         (1) Extortion involving property not exceeding $300 in
15     value is a Class 4 felony.
16         (2) Extortion involving property exceeding $300 and

1     not exceeding $10,000 in value, is a Class 2 felony.
2         (3) Extortion involving property exceeding $10,000 and
3     not exceeding $100,000 in value is a Class 1 felony.
4         (4) Extortion involving property exceeding $100,000 in
5     value is a Class X felony.".
