AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 2987

AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 2987 by replacing everything after the enacting clause with the following:

"Section 5. The Illinois Municipal Code is amended by adding Section 3.1-15-45 as follows:

(65 ILCS 5/3.1-15-45 new)

Sec. 3.1-15-45. Petitions for incompatible offices. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, if petitions for nomination have been filed for the same person for 2 or more offices to be elected under this Code that are incompatible so that the same person could not serve in more than one of those offices if elected, that person must withdraw as a candidate for all but one of those offices within the 5 business days following the last day for petition filing. If the person fails to withdraw as a candidate for all but one of the offices within that time, the person's name shall not be certified, nor printed upon the ballot, for any office.".
