SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
20 ILCS 1805/31 new
20 ILCS 2805/20 new

    Amends the Military Code of Illinois and the Department of Veterans Affairs Act. Provides that no employee of the Department of Military Affairs or the Department of Veterans Affairs may remove sensitive material, including without limitation material containing social security numbers of or other personal information concerning veterans or their families, from Department offices without authorization. Effective immediately.

1     AN ACT concerning State government.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Military Code of Illinois is amended by
5 adding Section 31 as follows:
 
6     (20 ILCS 1805/31 new)
7     Sec. 31. Removal of sensitive material. No employee of the
8 Department of Military Affairs may remove electronic or paper
9 copies of sensitive material, including without limitation
10 material containing social security numbers of or other
11 personal information concerning veterans or their families,
12 from Department offices without the express authorization of
13 the Adjutant General.
 
14     Section 10. The Department of Veterans Affairs Act is
15 amended by adding Section 20 as follows:
 
16     (20 ILCS 2805/20 new)
17     Sec. 20. Removal of sensitive material. No employee of the
18 Department of Veterans Affairs may remove electronic or paper
19 copies of sensitive material, including without limitation
20 material containing social security numbers of or other
21 personal information concerning veterans or their families,

3     Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
4 becoming law.
