AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 755

AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 755, AS AMENDED, with reference to page and line numbers of Senate Amendment No. 2, as follows:

on page 4, line 2, after "increased by", by inserting "the lesser of 3.5% or"; and

on page 49, line 27, after "fiscal year", by inserting ", unless the foundation level is increased by law to a higher amount"; and

on page 79, line 9, by changing "14-17.03" to "14-7.03"; and

on page 79, immediately below line 19, by inserting the following:

"(7) On the first day of each month, or as soon thereafter as practical, beginning on August 1, 2006, the Treasurer shall transfer to the State Board of Education $2,500,000 for the purposes of making grants under Sections 2-3.71, 2-3.71a, and 2-3.89 of this Code. On August 1, 2007, and each August 1 thereafter, the monthly amount transferred under this item (7) shall be increased by the lesser of 3.5% or the percentage increase, in the previous 12-month period ending on June 31, of the Consumer Price Index for all Urban Consumers published by the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics."; and

on page 79, line 20, by changing "(7)" to "(8)".
