HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The Illinois Workforce Investment Board was created by the Illinois Workforce Investment Board Act; and

WHEREAS, The Board is the State advisory board pertaining to workforce preparation policy; the Board ensures that Illinois' workforce preparation services and programs are coordinated and integrated and measures and evaluates the overall performance and results of these programs; the Board also furthers cooperation between government and the private sector to meet the workforce preparation needs of employers and workers in Illinois; and

WHEREAS, The Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, based on recommendations from the Board, has identified several workforce areas and organizations eligible to receive Workforce Investment Grants for innovation projects to explore workforce development strategies; and

WHEREAS, The State of Illinois would benefit from the inclusion of cosmetology programs, including barber and beauty schools, on the list of workforce areas and organizations eligible to receive such grants; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that the Illinois Workforce Investment Board is encouraged to add cosmetology programs, including barber and beauty schools, to its list of programs eligible to receive grants from the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity.
