HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The Illinois Workforce Investment Board was
3created by the Illinois Workforce Investment Board Act; and
 
4    WHEREAS, The Board is the State advisory board pertaining
5to workforce preparation policy; the Board ensures that
6Illinois' workforce preparation services and programs are
7coordinated and integrated and measures and evaluates the
8overall performance and results of these programs; the Board
9also furthers cooperation between government and the private
10sector to meet the workforce preparation needs of employers and
11workers in Illinois; and
 
12    WHEREAS, The Department of Commerce and Economic
13Opportunity, based on recommendations from the Board, has
14identified several workforce areas and organizations eligible
15to receive Workforce Investment Grants for innovation projects
16to explore workforce development strategies; and
 
17    WHEREAS, The State of Illinois would benefit from the
18inclusion of cosmetology programs, including barber and beauty
19schools, on the list of workforce areas and organizations
20eligible to receive such grants; therefore, be it
 
21    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE

1NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
2the Illinois Workforce Investment Board is encouraged to add
3cosmetology programs, including barber and beauty schools, to
4its list of programs eligible to receive grants from the
5Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity.
