SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Marguerite D. Van Ness of Algonquin, who passed away on December 2, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Marguerite Van Ness worked as a philatelic writer for Scott Stamp and Coin Company in New York City from 1942 to 1947; she also worked for Richardson Publications as editor-in-chief; and

WHEREAS, Marguerite Van Ness was the recipient of a letter of recognition from the Free French Army during World War II and was listed in the Who's Who of American Women in 1978; and

WHEREAS, Marguerite Van Ness was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Robert Van Ness, Sr.; and

WHEREAS, Marguerite Van Ness is survived by 3 children, Marguerite Van Ness, Jr., Roberta Elmore, and Robert C. Van Ness, Jr.; 4 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her family and friends, mourn the passing of Marguerite D. Van Ness; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Marguerite Van Ness as an expression of our sympathy.
