SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Glenn C. Friel of Rock Island, who passed away on October 18, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Glenn Friel was born on April 8, 1922 in McLeansboro; his parents were Thomas and Mary Mayberry Friel; he married Helen Clark on April 6, 1947; and

WHEREAS, Glenn Friel served in the United States Army during World War II as part of the Merrill's Marauders unit; and

WHEREAS, Glenn Friel was employed by Globe Machinery as a purchasing agent for many years; and

WHEREAS, Glenn Friel was a former member of Memorial Heights Methodist Church and a current member of Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church in Rock Island; he was also a member of Tri City Purchasing; and

WHEREAS, Glenn Friel enjoyed fishing, hunting, and antique cars; and

WHEREAS, Glenn Friel was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; his parents; and his sister, Dorothy French; and

WHEREAS, Glenn Friel is survived by his sons, Randy (Glenna) Friel and Rickey (Debbie) Friel; his grandchildren, JT Friel, Chad (Abby) Friel, and Kara (David) Shultz; and his great-grandchildren, Charlie, Tate, Landon, Aiden, Gavin, and Mason; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Glenn C. Friel; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Glenn Friel as an expression of our sympathy.
