SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Glenn C. Friel of Rock Island, who passed
4away on October 18, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Glenn Friel was born on April 8, 1922 in
6McLeansboro; his parents were Thomas and Mary Mayberry Friel;
7he married Helen Clark on April 6, 1947; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Glenn Friel served in the United States Army
9during World War II as part of the Merrill's Marauders unit;
10and
 
11    WHEREAS, Glenn Friel was employed by Globe Machinery as a
12purchasing agent for many years; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Glenn Friel was a former member of Memorial
14Heights Methodist Church and a current member of Good Shepherd
15Presbyterian Church in Rock Island; he was also a member of Tri
16City Purchasing; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Glenn Friel enjoyed fishing, hunting, and antique
18cars; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Glenn Friel was preceded in death by his wife,

1Helen; his parents; and his sister, Dorothy French; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Glenn Friel is survived by his sons, Randy
3(Glenna) Friel and Rickey (Debbie) Friel; his grandchildren, JT
4Friel, Chad (Abby) Friel, and Kara (David) Shultz; and his
5great-grandchildren, Charlie, Tate, Landon, Aiden, Gavin, and
6Mason; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
9family and friends, mourn the passing of Glenn C. Friel; and be
10it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Glenn Friel as an expression of our
13sympathy.
