SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Richard E. Lind, M.D. of Woodstock, who passed away on September 27, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Lind was born in Princeton on October 9, 1951 to Ellis and Vivian (nee Jenner) Lind; he graduated with a chemistry degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and later attended medical school at the University of Illinois at Chicago; he married Joanne Hoeft on June 12, 1976 at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Naperville; he completed his surgical residency and vascular fellowship at the University of Iowa; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Lind moved to Woodstock in 1983; he founded Surgical Associates of Fox Valley in Crystal Lake; he was a member of the medical staff at Centegra Hospitals in Woodstock and McHenry and Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington; over his 33 years, he has served as President of the medical staff, Chief of Surgery, and Chief Trauma Director at both Centegra Hospital-Woodstock and McHenry; he was a hospital board member and Chairman of the Cancer Committee; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Lind faithfully attended his 4 sons' sporting events throughout their school years, rarely missing a game despite a rigorous schedule; he enjoyed rooting for Chicago sports teams and took pleasure in working in his garden; he loved music and playing the piano and the trumpet; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Lind was preceded in death by his father, Ellis; his in-laws, Walter and Sophia Hoeft; and his sister, Diane Nyman; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Lind is survived by his of wife of 39 years, Joanne; his sons, Thomas (Karlyn), Michael (Jennifer), Timothy, and Jeffrey; his mother, Vivian; his brother, Donald (Susan); his sister, Denise (James) Guinn; and his 17 nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Richard E. Lind, M.D., and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dr. Lind as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
