SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Eddie L. McCann, Sr. of Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Eddie McCann, Sr. was appointed Assistant Chief of the Markham facility by the Sheriff of Cook County, James O'Grady; he worked there for over 20 years and enjoyed counseling offenders and offering advice on how to better their lives; he also worked for 30 years for the Chicago Housing Authority as Chief Operating Engineer; and

WHEREAS, Eddie McCann, Sr. was a dedicated deacon and a devoted churchman for 78 years; and

WHEREAS, Eddie McCann, Sr. was affectionately known as the "Executive Chef"; his most popular entree was a large pot of greens with turkey meat; it had many relatives and friends speeding their way to his home for a fabulous meal; many asked for carry-outs; and

WHEREAS, Eddie McCann, Sr. was preceded in death by his wife; and

WHEREAS, Eddie McCann, Sr. is survived by his daughter, Annette Wiggins (Roy); his 2 sons, Eddie L. McCann, Jr. (Annette) and Bernard P., Sr. (Cynthia); his brother, Arthur L. (Alice); his sister, Lee Ethel Franklin; his 10 grandchildren; more than 32 great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews; and many surrogate children; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Eddie L. McCann, Sr., and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Eddie McCann, Sr. as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
