HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Richard Moore of Chicago, who passed away on August 12, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Richard Moore was born in Louisville, Kentucky on September 14, 1941 to Lillie and Richard Moore; he was raised in Louisville and attended grammar school and high school in Kentucky; he received his Bachelor of Arts from Moorehouse College in Atlanta and attended Governor's State University for his graduate education; he served as a medic during the Vietnam War and married Barbara Moore on October 28, 1969; he resided on the south side of Chicago for 46 years; and

WHEREAS, Richard Moore worked as a teacher at the Edward Jenner School; he taught language arts and served as a disciplinarian; he also served on many boards across the Chicago community and in the Cabrini Green neighborhood; and

WHEREAS, Richard Moore is survived by his children, Tonya Byars, Kirk Byars, Monique Moore, and Matthew Moore, and his sister, Vera Moore; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Richard Moore, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Richard Moore as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
