| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Howard | 4 | | Perkins, Jr. of Peoria, who passed away on April 5, 2016; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Howard Perkins, Jr. was born in Birmingham, | 6 | | Alabama to Howard, Sr. and Tinnie Mae (Robinson) Perkins on | 7 | | December 11, 1930; he joined the United States Air Force in | 8 | | November of 1948, at the age of 17; he married Aurthur Mae Rice | 9 | | in Peoria on February 27, 1963; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Howard Perkins, Jr. worked for Caterpillar Inc. | 11 | | for over 30 years, retiring in 1985; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Howard Perkins, Jr. was a faithful member of Star | 13 | | of Hope Full Gospel Church for over 30 years, where he served | 14 | | as Deacon, Trustee, and Maintenance Supervisor; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Howard Perkins, Jr. was preceded in death by his | 16 | | parents; his son, Michael Perkins; his daughter, Nina Gaynelle | 17 | | Moore; and his granddaughter, Feliza McElmurry; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Howard Perkins, Jr. is survived by his wife of 61 | 19 | | years, Aurthur; four sons, Darnell Hannah, Howard Wesley | 20 | | (Cynthia) Perkins, Lloyd Anthony Perkins, and Lawrence Quentin |

| 1 | | Perkins; 12 grandchildren, Marcus Rice, David Gaines, Tabitha | 2 | | Hannah-Lewis, Keisha Lucas, Portia Perkins, Brittany Perkins, | 3 | | Cedric Hannah, Michael Perkins, Jr., Halo Perkins, Micah | 4 | | Perkins, Stephon Hayden, and Tonya Hayden; seven | 5 | | great-grandchildren, two of whom are being raised as daughters, | 6 | | Kadeja McElmurry and Alexis McElmurry; two | 7 | | great-great-grandchildren; a special brother-in-law, Rev. | 8 | | Herschel (Yvette) Hannah; special cousins from Ohio; a | 9 | | Godchild, Andrae (Sonia) Holliday, Sr.; a host of other family | 10 | | and friends; and his church family, who all truly adored him; | 11 | | therefore, be it
| 12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 13 | | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | 14 | | mourn the passing of Howard Perkins, Jr. and extend our sincere | 15 | | condolences to his family and friends and all who knew and | 16 | | loved him; and be it further
| 17 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 18 | | presented to the family of Howard Perkins, Jr. as an expression | 19 | | of our deepest sympathy.
