HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Howard
4Perkins, Jr. of Peoria, who passed away on April 5, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Howard Perkins, Jr. was born in Birmingham,
6Alabama to Howard, Sr. and Tinnie Mae (Robinson) Perkins on
7December 11, 1930; he joined the United States Air Force in
8November of 1948, at the age of 17; he married Aurthur Mae Rice
9in Peoria on February 27, 1963; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Howard Perkins, Jr. worked for Caterpillar Inc.
11for over 30 years, retiring in 1985; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Howard Perkins, Jr. was a faithful member of Star
13of Hope Full Gospel Church for over 30 years, where he served
14as Deacon, Trustee, and Maintenance Supervisor; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Howard Perkins, Jr. was preceded in death by his
16parents; his son, Michael Perkins; his daughter, Nina Gaynelle
17Moore; and his granddaughter, Feliza McElmurry; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Howard Perkins, Jr. is survived by his wife of 61
19years, Aurthur; four sons, Darnell Hannah, Howard Wesley
20(Cynthia) Perkins, Lloyd Anthony Perkins, and Lawrence Quentin

1Perkins; 12 grandchildren, Marcus Rice, David Gaines, Tabitha
2Hannah-Lewis, Keisha Lucas, Portia Perkins, Brittany Perkins,
3Cedric Hannah, Michael Perkins, Jr., Halo Perkins, Micah
4Perkins, Stephon Hayden, and Tonya Hayden; seven
5great-grandchildren, two of whom are being raised as daughters,
6Kadeja McElmurry and Alexis McElmurry; two
7great-great-grandchildren; a special brother-in-law, Rev.
8Herschel (Yvette) Hannah; special cousins from Ohio; a
9Godchild, Andrae (Sonia) Holliday, Sr.; a host of other family
10and friends; and his church family, who all truly adored him;
11therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
13NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
14mourn the passing of Howard Perkins, Jr. and extend our sincere
15condolences to his family and friends and all who knew and
16loved him; and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Howard Perkins, Jr. as an expression
19of our deepest sympathy.
