SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of George Lou Pride of North Chicago, who passed away on June 5, 2012; and

WHEREAS, He was born on May 24, 1944 in North Chicago; he was proud to have served in the United States Army; and

WHEREAS, He attended the Baptist Church pastored by Nat King Cole's father; he sang on the Chitlin Circuit throughout the South and Midwest; he toured with B.B. King, Clarence Carter, Betty Wright, Cathy Charity, Koko Taylor, and Kool and the Gang; Curtis Mayfield recorded Lou on his Curton Record Label; Lou Pride signed with David Earl, President of Severn Records; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his mother, Georgester; his father, Jerry Pride Sr.; and his brothers, Kenney, Robert, Jimmy, and Curtis; and

WHEREAS, George Lou Pride is survived by his sister, Diane; his brother, Jerry Pride; his daughters, Robin, Monique, and Kayla; his 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; a host of relatives and friends; and a special cousin, Michael O. Hosendove; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of George Lou Pride; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of George Lou Pride as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
