SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of George Lou Pride of North Chicago, who
4passed away on June 5, 2012; and
 
5    WHEREAS, He was born on May 24, 1944 in North Chicago; he
6was proud to have served in the United States Army; and
 
7    WHEREAS, He attended the Baptist Church pastored by Nat
8King Cole's father; he sang on the Chitlin Circuit throughout
9the South and Midwest; he toured with B.B. King, Clarence
10Carter, Betty Wright, Cathy Charity, Koko Taylor, and Kool and
11the Gang; Curtis Mayfield recorded Lou on his Curton Record
12Label; Lou Pride signed with David Earl, President of Severn
13Records; and
 
14    WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his mother,
15Georgester; his father, Jerry Pride Sr.; and his brothers,
16Kenney, Robert, Jimmy, and Curtis; and
 
17    WHEREAS, George Lou Pride is survived by his sister, Diane;
18his brother, Jerry Pride; his daughters, Robin, Monique, and
19Kayla; his 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; a host of
20relatives and friends; and a special cousin, Michael O.

1    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
2ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
3his family and friends, the passing of George Lou Pride; and be
4it further
 
5    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6presented to the family of George Lou Pride as a symbol of our
7sincere sympathy.
