SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Leon A. Little of Bethalto, who passed away on February 5, 2012; and

WHEREAS, He was born on July 7, 1931, in Jerseyville, the son of Levi and Salome (Middendorf) Little; he married Barbara A. (Schelle) on October 18, 1958, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Alton; and

WHEREAS, He was a graduate of Jerseyville High School and served his country in the United States Navy; he was employed at Shell Oil Company for 25 years, retiring in 1991, and was a member of the local Carpenters Union No. 377; and

WHEREAS, He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, the Wood River Moose Lodge No. 1349, and the Bethalto Knights of Columbus Council No. 4688, where he was a 3rd Degree Knight and a past Grand Knight; he enjoyed golfing, watching sports, going to all his grandchildren's sporting events with his wife, wood crafting, and being outside; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Opal Becker, Alice Devening, and Doris Madson; and

WHEREAS, Leon Little is survived by his wife, Barbara; his son, Phillip Little; his daughter and son-in-law, Shelley and Terry Eberlin; his grandchildren, Ryan, Kerri, Keenan, Autumn, and Tess; his former daughter-in-law, Jill (Pickering) Little; and his nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Leon Little; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Leon Little as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
