| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Marilyn J. Smith, who passed away on | 4 | | October 29, 2021; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Marilyn Smith was born in Alton to Burns H. and M. | 6 | | Velva (Payne) Gross on May 10, 1947; she married Glen Smith in | 7 | | East Alton on September 2, 1966; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Marilyn Smith worked as a respiratory therapist | 9 | | for St. Anthony's Hospital; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Marilyn Smith was a member of Cornerstone Church, | 11 | | where she was in charge of Operation Christmas Child; she was | 12 | | active with the Leisure World Ladies group and enjoyed playing | 13 | | pinochle; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Marilyn Smith was preceded in death by her | 15 | | husband, Glen, and her parents; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Marilyn Smith is survived by her daughter and | 17 | | son-in-law, Laura and Todd Ballard; her son, David B. Smith; | 18 | | her granddaughters, Hannah Grace (Luke) Settle and Adelaide | 19 | | Joy (Cory) Howard; her grandson, Andrey Nazarov Ballard; her | 20 | | cousins, Penny Wood and Jon Payne; and her dear friend, Cheryl |
