SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Marilyn J. Smith, who passed away on
4October 29, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Marilyn Smith was born in Alton to Burns H. and M.
6Velva (Payne) Gross on May 10, 1947; she married Glen Smith in
7East Alton on September 2, 1966; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Marilyn Smith worked as a respiratory therapist
9for St. Anthony's Hospital; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Marilyn Smith was a member of Cornerstone Church,
11where she was in charge of Operation Christmas Child; she was
12active with the Leisure World Ladies group and enjoyed playing
13pinochle; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Marilyn Smith was preceded in death by her
15husband, Glen, and her parents; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Marilyn Smith is survived by her daughter and
17son-in-law, Laura and Todd Ballard; her son, David B. Smith;
18her granddaughters, Hannah Grace (Luke) Settle and Adelaide
19Joy (Cory) Howard; her grandson, Andrey Nazarov Ballard; her
20cousins, Penny Wood and Jon Payne; and her dear friend, Cheryl

2    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
3ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
4Marilyn J. Smith and extend our sincere condolences to her
5family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
6further
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8presented to the family of Marilyn Smith as an expression of
9our deepest sympathy.
