SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of James A. Thompson of McHenry, who passed away on April 20, 2013; and

WHEREAS, James Thompson was born on October 29, 1914, in Ringwood; his parents were Edward and Elizabeth Thompson; and

WHEREAS, James Thompson was a veteran of the United States Army; he served during World War II and belonged to both the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars; and

WHEREAS, James Thompson was the owner and operator of Elm Street Station in McHenry; he had also worked for McHenry Savings Bank; and

WHEREAS, James Thompson was an avid sports fan; he enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs and Bears, gambling, playing cards, traveling, and spending time with his family; and

WHEREAS, James Thompson was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Isabelle; his son, Thomas; and his brother, Charles; and

WHEREAS, James Thompson is survived by his children, James (Sandy) Thompson, Suzanna "Cookie" (Kenneth) Homo, and Maribeth (Paul) Kilday; his 9 grandchildren; his 12 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Grace Mary Messman; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of James A. Thompson; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of James Thompson as an expression of our sympathy.
