SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of James A. Thompson of McHenry, who passed
4away on April 20, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, James Thompson was born on October 29, 1914, in
6Ringwood; his parents were Edward and Elizabeth Thompson; and
 
7    WHEREAS, James Thompson was a veteran of the United States
8Army; he served during World War II and belonged to both the
9American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars; and
 
10    WHEREAS, James Thompson was the owner and operator of Elm
11Street Station in McHenry; he had also worked for McHenry
12Savings Bank; and
 
13    WHEREAS, James Thompson was an avid sports fan; he enjoyed
14watching the Chicago Cubs and Bears, gambling, playing cards,
15traveling, and spending time with his family; and
 
16    WHEREAS, James Thompson was preceded in death by his
17parents; his wife, Isabelle; his son, Thomas; and his brother,
18Charles; and
 
19    WHEREAS, James Thompson is survived by his children, James

1(Sandy) Thompson, Suzanna "Cookie" (Kenneth) Homo, and
2Maribeth (Paul) Kilday; his 9 grandchildren; his 12
3great-grandchildren; and his sister, Grace Mary Messman;
4therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
7his family and friends, the passing of James A. Thompson; and
8be it further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of James Thompson as an expression of
11our sympathy.
